Rochester Christian School is committed to excellence in athletics. Individually and as a team, excellence is achieved when players honor God with their attitudes and behaviors, work hard in preparation, and play to their full potential. In concert with a Christ-centered education, our vision includes developing athletic programs that exemplify Christian character, unparalleled sportsmanship, teamwork and success. As a junior member of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) and the Rochester area Private Parochial League, RCS provides excellent inter-scholastic athletic opportunities.  At RCS we believe that it is a privilege to participate in athletics and we strive to perform in a manner that glorifies God.          Schedules are shown below

MIDDLE SCHOOL PHILOSPHY OF ATHLETICS

Rochester Christian School provides a God-centered education through the teaching of Christian principles.  The athletic program serves as an integral part of the total education program.

RCS is committed to excellence in athletics.  The educational benefits of an excellent athletic program develop a balanced lifestyle in the spiritual, mental, physical, and social dimensions of one’s total being.

A goal of the RCS athletic program is to encourage athletes to view their abilities as gifts from God and to seek out ways in which they can minister to others through sport participation. Athletics is a powerful tool for ministry. Coaches and athletes are challenged to consider practical ways in which they can serve others and witness to others using sport as a platform for their ministry.

The primary goals of the middle school athletic program are participation, positive attitudes, involvement and physical development.

We provide these interscholastic programs for boys and girls:
  • Soccer
  • Basketball
  • Basketball
  • Volleyball
  • Track and Field

Our student-athletes are expected to develop Christ-like attitudes and behaviors, including cooperation, teamwork, sportsmanship, and responsibility.

SEASON SCHEDULE
Rochester Christian School (RCS) is a member of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA).  RCS applied for membership and was recommended by the Section V athletic council for Friends and Neighbor status.

As a Friend and Neighbor, RCS may compete against other NYSPHAA member schools (only through league level of play), is eligible to compete with member schools in all sections, and agrees to adhere to the rules and regulations of NYSPHSAA.

RCS will be competing at the Modified Level (grades 7, 8 and 9) and under the rules of the Modified Program.

Beginning in the fall of 2008, the RCS soccer programs will be competing with other middle school programs in the Private Parochial League.  This league is a proper fit for RCS as league members encourage their grade 9 players to compete at the Junior Varsity level.  League members include Aquinas Institute, Bishop Kearney, Charles Finney, Lima Christian, Nazareth Academy, Northstar Christian, Our Lady of Mercy, Siena Catholic Academy and Webster Christian.

Try-outs for the fall season typically begin the first week of school. The winter season usually begins in the second week of November. Spring sports start around the second week of March.

ATHLETIC ELIGIBILITY
Every student-athlete must have on file in the School Office an Athletic Insurance / Health Certification Form.   This form must be turned in prior to the start of the first season of sports participation. Only one insurance / health form is necessary for the entire school year.   This form requires that a student physical has been conducted within the past 12 months.

RCS also requires student-athletes to complete a Sportsmanship Policy Form prior to participation.
