The curriculum in the elementary school is
designed to support the school's mission to prepare students from
Christian families to live fully for God in a rapidly- changing world,
with the ability to understand, evaluate, and transform the world from
the foundation of God’s unchanging values. Our Christ-centered academic program has been shaped to meet the spiritual and developmental needs of our students. Curriculum in Pre-K through grade 5 emphasizes Bible, reading, math, and language arts. Additional instruction is provided in science, social studies, art, music, physical education, library and technology instruction. A biblical worldview is integrated and implemented into the instructional program and practices. All elementary classrooms are self-contained. The fifth grade classrooms use a team approach for instruction in reading, language arts, social studies and science. In addition to a weekly chapel service, students also have Bible classes focusing on specific books, Bible characters, and topics from scripture. Bible time is practically related to the child's age of understanding thereby assisting them in their efforts to grow in relationship with Jesus Christ and their fellow classmates and teachers. Although traditional in nature, classroom teachers utilize various instructional methods such as ability and mixed-ability grouping, interest groups, discovery and inquiry, hands-on investigation and research. The elementary grades also utilize the school computer lab. |
