Early Childhood

All RCS Early Childhood Programs:

  • Christ-centered environment which encourages young children to develop their whole being

  • Faith integration in every aspect of the day

  • Certified teachers

  • Recognize that young children are active learners and provide hands-on learning

  • Foster curiosity, eagerness to learn, and confidence in accomplishments

  • Teach Literacy and numeration activities that are a foundation for later success

  • Welcome parents in the classroom recognizing that you are the first and most influential teachers

  • Encourage communication between school and home

  • Include children in concerts, school activities and celebrations

  • Facilities include a bathroom and sink in each classroom, building security system

  • Field trips with parent volunteers

  • Utilize gym and playground

 

Preschool 3s:

  • Must turn 3 by December 1 of entering school year and be fully potty trained

  • Tuesday and Thursday (half or full day)

  • Maximum number of students: 14

  • Introduces children to the joy and excitement of learning as students explore, create, and discover through classroom activities and peer interactions

  • Focuses on socialization, establishing routines, early literacy and numeration activities

  • Daily visits to playground or gym

 

Preschool 4s:

  • Must turn 4 by December 1 of entering school year and be fully potty trained

  • Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (half or full day)

  • Further encourages students to dig into learning by exploring numbers, letters, colors, shapes and other developmentally appropriate skills to prepare them for Transitional Kindergarten or Kindergarten classes

  • Maximum number of students: 15

  • Daily visits to playground or gym

  • Weekly music class

 

Kindergarten Prep (Previously Transitional K):

  • Should turn 5 by March 1 of entering school year

  • Monday-Friday, 8:25-3:00 (full day)

  • Maximum number of students: 18

  • Focuses on self advocacy, problem solving skills and independence

  • A modified Kindergarten curriculum (giving them the gift of time)

  • Special Classes include: PE, Music, Art, and Library

 

Kindergarten:

  • Must turn 5 by December 1 of entering school year

  • Monday-Friday, 8:25-3:00 (full day)

  • Maximum number of students: 21

  • Focuses on building strong foundational skills in reading, writing, and math, science and social studies (full integration into elementary school)

  • Focuses on self advocacy, problem solving skills and independence

  • Special Classes include: PE, Music, Art, and Library
