Strong from Start to Finish: RCS Boys Basketball

Another successful basketball season has come to a close. I was once again blessed to serve as coach for this group of hardworking boys. Beating Siena and Aquinas in the same year was quite an accomplishment!
I was blessed to see the way the 8th graders worked together. I am proud of the boys’ improvement in their basketball skills over the years - especially Josh Emmans and Joel Laudadio. Leading the team in points, rebounds, and steals were Jon Taylor, Dan Taylor, and Andrew Passero. They also provided good examples for those who just picked up the game. Connor Torrell exhibited a true love of competition with his fearless hustle. It was nice to see Sam Coniglio, Ezra Nourse, and Trevor Smith pick up the game as the season went along. Their understanding of the fundamentals increased each week. I want to thank Matthew Torrell for his dedication and practicing with the team.
I was proud to see the improvement of everyone on the team from the first practice to the last game. They clearly learned the skills and developed a greater appreciation and love for the game.
I am so appreciative of the parents’support including driving to the games. Special thanks go to Lisa Torrell for organizing transportation and the season finale party, Mr. O for coordinating the schedule and communication with the other schools, and my daughter (and RCS Alumna 2014) Ella Myrthil for running the scorebook. Most of all, I thank our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for giving me the opportunity to serve in this capacity as coach.
