Early Childhood

Rochester Christian School’s early childhood program is Christ-centered, child focused, and encourages young children to develop their whole being in a safe, warm environment.

Early Childhood Education at Rochester Christian School

At Rochester Christian School, our Early Childhood Education programs provide a Christ-centered foundation where children are known, loved, and encouraged to grow in every area of development. We partner with families to nurture the whole child during these formative years.

Across all of our Early Childhood programs, you will find:

  • A faith-integrated environment that reflects Christ’s love throughout the day

  • Small class sizes that allow teachers to build strong relationships and respond to each child’s individual needs

  • Developmentally appropriate, hands-on learning experiences that support curiosity and active engagement

  • A welcoming school culture that values parent partnership and open communication between home and school

  • Teachers who foster confidence, independence, and a love of learning

  • Opportunities for enrichment through music, library time, movement, outdoor play, special celebrations, and school-wide experiences

  • Safe, updated facilities and consistent communication with families

Our Early Childhood classrooms are joyful spaces where children are encouraged to explore, ask questions, and develop a strong sense of belonging within a Christian community.

Pre-Kindergarten Program

Rochester Christian School’s Pre-Kindergarten program is designed to nurture a child’s natural curiosity while building the social, emotional, and academic foundations needed for future learning. Through purposeful play and structured classroom experiences, children develop early skills in literacy, numeracy, communication, and problem-solving.

The intention of our Pre-Kindergarten program is to:

  • Support social development, cooperation, and relationship-building

  • Establish classroom routines that promote confidence and independence

  • Introduce foundational academic skills through play-based and hands-on learning

  • Encourage creativity, exploration, and joyful discovery

  • Help children grow in self-expression and early self-advocacy

Our Pre-Kindergarten program serves both preschool-aged and Pre-K-aged children, providing a nurturing environment where all learners can grow in independence, confidence, and early learning skills.

Kindergarten

The Kindergarten program at Rochester Christian School serves as a thoughtful bridge between early childhood and elementary education. Rooted in faith and intentionally designed to meet students where they are developmentally, our program emphasizes both academic growth and the development of the whole child.

The intention of our Kindergarten program is to:

  • Build strong foundational skills in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies

  • Foster independence, self-advocacy, and problem-solving skills

  • Support social-emotional development in a caring, Christian classroom community

  • Provide differentiated instruction that honors each child’s unique learning journey

  • Offer hands-on learning experiences, centers, and opportunities for play alongside academic instruction

Kindergarten provides children with a loving environment where they build confidence, grow in independence, and develop the foundation to thrive in elementary school and beyond.
